No. 21, Matcha Aoarashi

A powdered Japanese green tea made from the stone-pulverized leaf, matcha is well known for its use in chanoyu, the highly structured traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Aoarashi a ceremonial-grade matcha, lightly astringent with rich notes of cocoa and fresh, sweet grass.

Our Matcha Aoarashi is only available in 2oz bags, as each bag is nitrogen flushed and sealed in Japan to maximize the tea's freshness.

Origin:  Kakegawa, Shizouka Prefecture, Japan - 2014 

Farmer:  Otsuka Family

Brewing Instructions:  

  • 1/2 tsp per 8oz/250ml of water  
  • 160ºF/72ºC  (Bring fresh, cold spring water to a boil. Remove from heat, set aside 5 minutes, and proceed.)  
  • Whisk with a traditional matcha whisk, or chasen, or stir until the surface froths, about 1 minute.
