No. 25, Green Kukicha (Karigane)

Produced with the ichibancha (or the first plucking) of kabuse sencha, this tea more than makes up for its simple appearance with its heady aroma and flavor. Better than many senchas we have cupped, this "twig tea" compliments its rich, buttery taste with equally balanced fruit and floral notes. A must-have for any Japanese green tea fan.

Origin: Kawanehon, Haibara District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan - 2015

Brewing Instructions: 

  • 1 tsp per 8oz/250ml of water  
  • 160ºF/72ºC  (Bring fresh, cold spring water to a boil. Remove from heat, set aside 5 minutes, and proceed.)  
  • Brew 2-4 minutes  
  • Good for 2 infusions
